A little about Matt Day...

I grew up playing classical music. I did the whole band, orchestra, chorus geek thing in school. I also did lots of theatre pit work. So all of that definately seeped in I'm sure. But having a Dad who's a DJ from 1960's Detroit Motown probably had the greatest impact on me. Dad was always playing Elvis, Motown, Beach Boys, Beatles, and Bob Seger. But his collection spans the entire rock 'n' roll era from the '50's on. I could pretty much go find anything I ever wanted to hear any time I wanted. It was like the internet in my attic long before downloading and Ipods. I also couldn't possibly deny the influence of my Mom's beautiful clarinet playing. However, the short list of my all time favorites includes: The Beatles (I still can't get over The Beatles!), Pink Floyd, Queen, Ozzy, Prince, Yes, AC/DC, Mike Wigfield, Frank Zappa, Metallica, Anthrax, Sting/The Police, Pantera, Kansas, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, Faith No More/Mr. Bungle, Kings X, Led Zepplin, Rush, and a bunch of '60's and '70's guitar rock bands.

To still be able to play rock 'n' roll music for a living is amazing! I'm gonna enjoy it while I can.
